IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!
It is with EXTREME regret that we have to cancel this years flatpick and guitar competitions in Mayville. The struggling economy has made for struggling sponsors, and while we could have presented a "presentable" competition, we feel our reputation is better than that.
The festival itself is strong, and it will of course go on as planned, but without the contests.
We are indeed skipping this year to work with our sponsors and media folks to make sure that the 2010 NYS Flatpick and Mandolin contests are better than ever. If you have already paid, we will return your entrance fees, of course.
Sorry it took so long to get this to you, but in the interest of keeping ours a contest of integrity, we feel it's necessary to "prune" things to make them better. We apologize for inconveniencing any of you, look forward to seeing you at the festival this year, and at next years state competitions.
Remember, the 2009 Mayville Bluegrass Festival will go on as planned, but without the contests.
